Amazing Water Access Cottage on Beautiful Kasshabog Lake….Kosh Lake as many know it.
SOLD! A gem of a cottage property that had it all – from acres of privacy, deep frontage and sandy bays to big lake views, western facing frontage and a quaint cottage on the granite shore of one of my favourite lakes – Kasshabog Lake, this one was in the same family for over 50 years! While it has all this, what it didn’t have was…. a road.
‘No road? Not for me..’ it’s a common response from those seeking the perfect cottage property and for many reasons, I get it. The convenience of driving to the door, the ease of unloading once, the convenience for guests, and the simplicity of bring building supplies….believe me, I get it as I grew up at a water access on cottage in the Kawartha’s on Kasshabog Lake. And I’ve also experienced a very strange event – converting that same water access cottage to a road cottage som 40+ years later.
Part of me misses the water access experience…part of me doesn’t. I only wish pontoon boats were a :thing’ back in the day. For me, it was a cedar strip boat with as temperamental 15 Envinrude outboard. Later, a ‘huge’ upgrade to a 14′ tin boat with a 25 Hp Merc….with electric start. The cottage contained an assortment of rain coats…a Bimini top would have been a luxury back then. A ‘sound the horn’ code for guests as they arrived at Stony Point Marina.. a welcome excuse to go for a boat ride to fetch them.
for those that have experienced it, water access provides many features that a road doesn’t. It may not be for everyone, but for those seeking privacy within a smaller cottage buying budget, you might want to give a water access cottage in the Kawartha’s a look. I wouldn’t trade my childhood on Kosh Lake for anything….water access and all.
